 Daniel Norman Surerus, age 60, of White Bird, Idaho, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Thursday, February 19, 2026 in Idaho County Idaho. Dan was born December 2, 1965 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to John Loftus Surerus and Annie Stella Dineen Surerus. Dan was the 7th of 8 children born to John and Annie. Dan spent his childhood in Roberts, Idaho where he attended school at Roberts, West Jefferson and graduated high school at Rigby High in 1984. He married Stacy Flowers in May 1985, and they welcomed 2 daughter Mallory who was born in May 1986 and Brittany who was born in 1987. Dan and Stacy later divorced. Dan moved to Boise in 1987 and in 1993 he started dating Heather Penfold, who he had known all of his life. Dan and Heather were married May 7, 1994 and welcomed daughter Bailey Nichol on May 15, 1999, Daniel “Boone” Surerus on October 18, 2014 and Dalton John Surerus on August 20, 2016. Dan became a grandpa on January 5, 2024 to Luke Scott Hansen and then on June 25, 2025 Henry Loftus Hansen joined his big brother.

Dan joined the electrical trade in 1993 where he worked for Rocky Mountain Electric from 1993 until 1999. He then joined the electrical union until he opened his own electrical business Desert Electric in 2005. Dan, Heather and family moved to White Bird, Idaho in January 2021 and opened and ran The Confluence until they closed that in March 2025. Dan went to work being a State Electrical inspector in December 2022 and then in September 2025 he put the tools back on and went to work for Tri State Electric where he was working at the time of his passing.

Dan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints where he served in a number of different callings including elder quorum president and also counselor in the bishopric.

Dan loved his family most of all and everything he did was for the benefit of his family. Dan loved hunting, fishing, camping and his Heavenly Father.

Dan is survived by his wife Heather of 31 years, his daughter Bailey Hansen (Brady) of White Bird, his sons Boone and Dalton Surerus of White Bird, his grandsons Luke and Henry Hansen of White Bird. He is also survived by his siblings, Christy Robison of Malad, Idaho; John Surerus (Connie) of Roberts, Idaho; Mike (Chub) Surerus of Roberts, Idaho; Annette Zweifel (Dave) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Dave Surerus (Lorrie) of Blackfoot, Idaho; Doug Surerus (Nancy) of Carey, Idaho; Ben Surerus of Idaho Falls. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents John Surerus, Annie Stella Dineen Surerus Hunter Petersen, and his father-in-law David Mains, nieces Mary Beth Surerus and Kimberly Zweifel Millowway.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, Idaho 83605. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Middleton Stake Center, 23057 Old Hwy 30, Caldwell, Idaho 83607. Burial will be on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Market Lake Cemetery in Roberts, Idaho.
