Shanta was born to D.K.Shivashankar and Venkatalkshmamma in Tarikere on Jan 11, 1954. She leaves behind her 94 year old father, one elder brother Dr. Keshav Shiva, Spouse Thim Setty, two sons Dr. Raj Setty and Dr. Harsha Setty. She is also survived by daughter in laws, Dr. Vasuki Anandan and Myrna Setty. She leaves behind two beautiful granddaughters Nora and Carina Setty.    

She graduated from Passaic High School in 1972. She finished her education at Middlesex County College in NJ in 1983. She worked at Natwest Bank while in Edison, NJ. In 1996, after moving to North Carolina, she worked in administration at Wake Forest University. She transitioned into a career as a realtor in 2005. After retiring in 2018 she moved to Florida to be closer to her family. 

She had a warm personality that everyone she came across could easily blend with. She liked to laugh and loved watching The Simpsons with her family. She enjoyed singing and would entertain her friends and family. Her movie tastes varied from Kannada, Hindi and English movies. Her favorite team was Duke University’s Basketball team and enjoyed watching the NCAA tournament every year. 

Her entire life’s dedication was to her family. Her continuing influence will carry on with anyone whom she has encountered. She will be missed but never forgotten.
