Nathaniel H. McGee, Jr., affectionately known as “Chookie” and “Nate”, was born on December 26, 1950 in Mount Holly, New Jersey to the parents of Nathaniel H. McGee, Sr. And Eva Jean McGee. Nathaniel was the oldest of 7 children.  

 

He attended public grade school in Beverly, N.J. He graduated from Palmyra High School. He was selected as a freshman football player to start on the Varsity football team. Before his graduation he was selected to All County and All State Football Team. He was being highly recruited by Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana and Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.  

 

Nathaniel enlisted into The United States Army on January 2, 1973 where he served Twenty years before retiring on February 2, 1993. Within his long Military career, he attended military school at Ft. Campbell, KY as Race Relations Instructor and Alcohol & Drug Instructor at Ft. Dix Military base in New Jersey as an NCO Academy Graduate, leadership Management Division, GM Headstart Personnel Management, Senior NCO Command Staff School. In Germany, he was a Records Specialist and NCO in charge of ID Cards and Passports. Over the years he has had countless more duty stations and assignments. Nathaniel retired from his military career in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. 

 

Nathaniel was married and divorced from his first wife Gloria McGee from which he has a daughter Vonnetta. On July 9, 1977 in Browns Mills, NJ he married his life and best friend Karen D. formally Henderson. From this marriage three children were introduced to the world. A lovely daughter Toya McGee, and two wonderful sons Nathaniel H. McGee III, and Marcus J. McGee. He enjoyed coaching his sons playing football until they entered high school. He was so proud of them all attending college and always being such good children.  

 

He loved taking his wife to the flea market so she could exercise walking around outside. Nathaniel also liked cutting grass and making his home look good outside.

  

To my Children never forget your Mother’s Birthday, Mother’s Day, and Christmas.  

 

To my Wife, I love everything you have done for me, and time spent together. I will always be with you in spirit. Love Always, Nate 

 

Nathaniel has six siblings: Sisters, Maria (Sissy), Zilphia (Neice), Deidre (Dee Dee), Brothers Kelvin, Allen, and Johnny (deceased). He also leaves behind cousins, nephews, grandchildren and loving family.  

 

Nathaniel accepted the Lord as his savior, and lived by example of Christian life, and instilled those values to his children.
