Brent Stonebraker, 88 years young, passed away peacefully on 24 February 2026, at Grace Assisted Living in Meridian, Idaho.
Brent was born on June 17, 1937, in Kansas, attended high school, and continued his education, always learning. Brent’s dream was to attend West Point Academy, but due to health issues (flat feet), he wasn’t accepted.
Brent’s father was an architect, so he decided to attend college, earned a master’s degree, and became an engineer.
Brent was involved in several construction projects in Kansas and with his father. Early in the 1970s, he accepted a job in Alaska for the Alyeska Pipeline. There, he met his present wife, Sylvia. After completion of the pipeline, Brent moved to Fairbanks. He later continued other projects – one in South America at the U.S. Embassy in Chile and the last and final one was a hospital for the Alaskan Natives in Kotzebue, Alaska, where he won an engineering award. Brent also continued consulting for the company while living in retirement in Idaho.
Brent and Sylvia were married on June 21, 1980, in Homedale, Idaho, uniting two families into one. Brent and Sylvia embraced the children fully and enjoyed many pursuits, vacations, and life in general.
Brent enjoyed golf and football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, and loved discussing the plays with his children. He and Sylvia enjoyed traveling, across all 50 states in an RV, as well as visiting and enjoying other countries.
Brent’s family was his greatest joy. He loved playing with them and Brent was the center of their world. He loved the Lord, always studying the Bible, and writing the words.
Brent leaves behind a loving family: his devoted wife, Sylvia Annette Stonebraker; his children: Todd (Zoe) Stonebraker, Darci Lynn (Kevin), Melody (Curt) Graham, and Troy Clymer; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lindsey, Zack, Isaac, Brady, and Dylan; great grandchildren: Dylan, Liam, Ethan, Curtis, Parker, and Carter; and two nieces in California, Diane and Cheryl. Brent was a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his son, Steve Clymer, and Steve’s wife (Brent’s daughter-in-law), Debra.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Centennial Baptist Church in Caldwell, with a graveside service to immediately follow at the Marsing-Homedale Cemetery. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
