Yvonne Keeler fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on February 24, 2026. She was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ since the day of her baptism. She confirmed her baptismal faith at Sion Lutheran Church (Augustana Synod) in Lancaster, MN.
Born on April 27th in Hallock, MN to Walter and Edith Peterson. She graduated from Lancaster high school and then attended the University of Minnesota. Living in Minneapolis she worked for the Armed Forces Entrance and Examination Station, where she received several awards for outstanding service. It was there that she met the love of her life, Charles J. Keeler.
They were married on February 11, 1973, at Hiawatha Lutheran Church by long time family Pastor: Reverend F. Weyland. After the wedding they moved to Mankato, MN where she worked for the social security administration, while her husband, Charles, attended Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary.
Once Charles was ordained in the public ministry, they served parishes in Oklee, MN, and in Audubon and Hawley, MN. Then they moved to Florida and served Christ Ev. Lutheran Church for 13 years. Next, they served Bethany Lutheran in Port Orchard, WA for 4 years and their final perish, Resurrection Lutheran Church, Winter Haven, FL, since 2003.
Yvonne loved to shop. She could spend an entire day walking around a mall, never purchasing a thing. She loved to travel, especially visiting zoos viewing all the unique animals. Yvonne and Charles were fortunate to travel to several incredible destinations: Western Europe, the British Isles and the USA.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lester Peterson and her sister Carolyn Parrish.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Pastor Charles J. Keeler. Sisters Sandy and Terri, brother-in-Law Terry Keeler (Susan Keeler), sister-in-law Kathy Keeler, nephews Jonathan and Luke Keeler, nieces Kelly Steffen and Taylor Mejia. Foster daughter, Cookie Knight, and many other family, friends, and parishioners.
We take comfort in the promise of Bible: “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:23). Though we grieve, we do so with hope, trusting that Yvonne now rests in eternal peace and joy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 2, 2026, at 11:00AM at Resurrection Lutheran in Winter Haven, Florida. Interment will take place at a date to be determined at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, MN.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church of Winter Haven.
Blessed be her memory!
