Charlie “Miss Mickey” Spires | December 26, 1936 – February 1, 2026

Charlie “Miss Mickey” Spires passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. A beloved matriarch, she was known for her deep faith, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family and community. Miss Mickey opened her heart and home to countless loved ones, always offering a meal and comfort to those in need. She was widely known as an accomplished fisherman along the Snake River and cherished time spent outdoors with family. A devoted Christian, she lived her faith daily and leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and love that will be dearly missed.

Charlie was preceded in death by her spouse, Herbert Lee Spires; her mother, Minnie Earl Thomas Mikes; her father, Travis P. Grundy; her stepfather, Billie Mikes; brothers Elmer Ray Grundy, Thomas Mikes, Thermon Mikes, and Dino Mikes; sisters Marsha Mikes and Cecil Hudson; children Cholletta White, Monica Jackson, Linda Gunn, and Bruce Jackson; and grandchildren Hurleen " H.B." Bain, Christian Morrison, and Phellipe Jackson.

She is survived by her children, Hazel Grundy, Julius Jackson, Journna Pedersen, and Herbert Spires Jr.; siblings Bernice Burns, Billie Spires, Noble Crittenden-Napolean, Mae Warren, and Liza Mikes; close friend Johnny Whitehorn; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
