Carole McRoberts Newton, age 85 of Frankfort, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord early Friday, February 27, 2026, at her home after a well-fought battle against cancer.
She was born March 21, 1940, in Maysville, Kentucky, one of three daughters of the late Rev. James T. McRoberts and Geneva Swearingen McRoberts.
In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Kelly Van Newton. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy McRoberts Johnson of Maysville.
Carole is survived by her sister, Marian McRoberts Evans, of College Station, Texas as well as her brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson of Maysville. She is also leaves behind loving family members Kelly Johnson of Hebron, Kentucky, Todd Johnson (Cheri) of Maysville and Ashley Jenkins (Adam) of College Station, Texas; Barbara Watts (James) of Somerset; Julie Watts Baker of Louisville and her children, James and Sophia.
A graveside service to honor Carole’s life will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 12 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens: 3250 Versailles Road, Frankfort 40601. The service will be officiated by Mr. Jerry Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Gideons International in Carole’s honor.
