Sharon “Shari” L. Barker, 68, of Edgerton, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Shari was born on September 6, 1957, in Geneva, Illinois, to the late Bernard “Bud” L. Murphy and Mary Lou (née Gavin) Murphy. She graduated from St. Francis High School and continued her education at the College of DuPage, where she earned her associate degree.
On September 17, 2011, Shari was united in marriage to Robert Barker at Stone Eagle in Rockford, Illinois. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
First and foremost, Shari treasured time spent with her family and friends and loved welcoming others into her home. She found great joy in cooking and baking for those she loved and took pride in her vegetable gardening, canning, and tending to her plants and flowers. She also enjoyed boating, fishing, and playing Bocce at the Venetian Club. Shari’s warmth, hospitality, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Shari leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Robert Barker; her children, Erin Hollander, Bradley Kaster, and Gregory Kaster; her stepchildren, Linda (Jeff) O’Kelley and Lauren (Sean) Congdon; her sister, Kathy (Bill) Ulrich; her brothers, Jim Murphy, Paul (Sharon) Murphy, and Larry (Linda) Murphy; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family service in remembrance of Shari will be held at a later date.
Nitardy Funeral Home has been entrusted with Shari’s arrangements.

Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson
We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations....
