Bernard Mares, “Bernie”, age 67, passed away peacefully in his home May of 2021. A resident of Colorado Springs for much of his later life, Bernie worked for the company Bob Mcgrath Construction, where he helped build and restore some of the city’s most beautiful properties, one being The Broadmoor Hotel. Bernie was a talented man, willing and able to teach others his many skills. When we think of him, we first and foremost think of his beautiful craftmanship. He was very proud of himself when it came to his work and he had quite a good reason to be. His former coworkers and clients will dearly miss him. Aside from Bernie’s professional life he enjoyed several hobbies including painting, playing guitar, fishing and listening to music. He had many friends and family and was well respected among everyone who met him. We will all miss his ‘it’s all good’ attitude and the loving smile that came along with it. Bernie was continuously willing to help others in need, and for that and many more reasons we suffer a great loss in this world. Bernard Mares is survived by his son Jesse, his daughter Nicole, his daughter-in-law Joline, his brother Glenn, his sister Eugenia, and too many loving family members to count. Family, friends and those whose lives Bernie touched are welcome to attend his service on June 11th at 2pm at St. Paul’s Community Church, 8001 W 23rd Ave. Lakewood, CO 80214. Following the service will be a celebration of his life at the Eagles Lodge at 4pm located at 8651 Huron St. Thornton, CO 80260.
