Obituary Jonathan Lewis McElroy, 47, became our loss but heaven's gain on Oct 2nd, 2021. His battle with cancer was fought bravely and with all the positive energy that was typical of Jon's magnetic style. Jon passed with his family and friends close at hand. Jon was born July 16th 1974, in Boulder, Co to Michael and June McElroy. Michael (ret.) a successful owner operator of Longmont Machining and June a supportive homemaker and mother to Jon, his brother and two sisters . The McElroy family have lived in Boulder Colorado since the 1970s. Jon was a fitness expert and served as a Marine in the armed forces. Jon held fitness records at Camp Pendleton in California. He was also a consummate and meticulous craftsman. His attention to detail in welding and metal fabrications were second to none. He held certifications in Medical and Aircraft welding. Jon was a devoted and loving father. He and his son Reece McElroy had many outdoor and sports related adventures. He was also devoted to Tara McMurray his partner and fiancee of seven years. Tara was a constant companion and support to Jon throughout his illness. Jon was an absolutely delightful and charismatic man. He never met a stranger and was always ready with a word of encouragement or wisdom. Everyone he came in contact with was impacted in a positive way. Truly, "To know him was to love him." Jon is survived by, Reece McElroy(son), Tara McMurray (fianc�), Michael and June McElroy (parents), Trina Johnson (sister), Joel and Tanya McElroy (brother and sister-in-law), and Kelwyn McElroy (sister).
