Obituary Robert Leroy Holliday, 88, died August 9, 2015 in Colorado Springs. He was born March 20, 1927 in Dawson, NM to Thomas Jefferson and Edith Marie (Hughbanks) Holliday. When Bob was 15 he entered the US Navy by fudging his date of birth to reflect 1925! Bob Honorable served and was released from duty after being wounded in WWII. He received numerous honors and medals for his service. Though he was injured and had to leave the Navy, he was very proud of his service. After the military Bob went on to further his education, receiving a degree in Nuclear Engineering. He worked for 30+ years at a Nuclear Power Plant before retiring and becoming a "public servant". He loved children and teens and opened his home to "at-risk" teens. He also played the Ronald McDonald clown at the Ronald McDonald House Charities, who provided housing to families with sick children being treated at the local hospitals. Bob AKA 'DOC' was a long-time member of the Masons of Fairplay, CO as well as Shriners International and The American Legion, both of Buena Vista, CO. Bob is survived by two sisters, Mary Ellen Westfall and Bonnie June Todd and their families. Bob is also survived by three sons; Bobby, Jeffrey & Sam. Bob was known for being very dedicated to his family, Nieces and Nephews far and near. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas, Jr. and Frank, and a sister, Lucille. Burial and Graveside services will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO August 31, 2015 at 1:30 PM. There will be a Celebration of DOC's life on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at The V.F.W., 27318 County Road 314, Buena Vista, CO. Services Graveside Service Monday August 31, 2015 1:30 PM Ft.
