Springfield – Dorothy C. Wyland Forester of Springfield, Oregon passed away May 27, 2023, at the age of 93. Her service was June 2, 2023. She was predeceased by her parents Ole and Zelma, infant siblings James and Waunita, and son, Rick Wyland, step-son Bruce Forester (Brenda). She is survived by her daughter, Renee Smith (Dan), daughter-in-law Roberta (Wyland) Woodward (Steve). Grandchildren Jason (Cynthia) Forester, Jennifer (Curt) Paugh, Jonathan Strain, Sally Strain, Danny Smith, Chris Wyland (Ashli), and Tim Wyland. Great-Grandchildren Mariah (Brice) Rust, Lucas Paugh, Grace Paugh, Paydon Strain, Paul Sisler III, and Teagen, Tinley, Tatum Wyland; and five great-great grandchildren. Dorothy grew up in Minatare and Rushville, NE where her parents were farmers during the Great Depression and WWII. She worked at a grocery store during high school to help pay for nursing school. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing with a three-year diploma in 1951. She married Lyle Wyland in 1951 and moved to Oregon, where she worked for Sacred Heart Hospital until her retirement in 1988. She and Lyle were divorced in 1974. She married Lamont Forester in 1978. They enjoyed an extensive trip to the orient in 1988, church, camping, rock hounding and family events. Dorothy is remembered for her great sense of humor her whole life, her excellent care for her patients, and most of all love and devotion for her family. If someone needed something she would go without in order to provide for that person. She had a comforting presence, and was welcoming to Young Life kids, Girl and Boy Scouts, track kids, Japanese exchange students and so many more. Her love, wisdom and kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
