Earl "Duane" Ness, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday Feb. 18, 2018 at his home of 56 years in Kirkland, WA surrounded by family. Born in Blackfoot, ID to Selmer Ness and Lillie Huffaker. Duane lived most of his childhood in New Plymouth, ID where he met the love of his life, Idabel Dare and were married at the New Plymouth First Baptist Church where Idabel's Mother Fern was a school teacher. Duane graduated from the University of Idaho and was a Sargent in the army, stationed on Guam as a decoder. A government homestead project of 1950's lead him to Warden, WA to develop an 80-acre parcel, where he built a two room, dirt floor homestead from reclaimed barn wood. During this time, he was a Disc-Jockey for the local radio station and even cut some of his own records. Duane started his long career with NW Bell Telephone as a computer programmer. Duane and Isabel bought 40 acres where they cleared and built a cabin. Multiple generations have grown up enjoying the cabin, with many great get togethers and nature walks. Duane was a fun loving great natured individual with a love of all things "artsy" and mechanical. Duane and Ida have two children, Mark and Jamie; four grandchildren, Carley, Shaina, Danielle and Tara; and nine great grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, Calvin, Declan, Harper, Sawyer, Jack, Henry and Zoey. There will be a graveside service held at 3 p.m., Monday, March 5th at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel. Condolences may be made to Duane's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
