Sandra Lee Belter (nee Hammond) passed away the morning of January 15th, 2024, at the age of 83. Survived lovingly by Robert Belter, her husband of 65 years and by son Robert Jr. and his wife Melanie, daughter Diane, son Thomas and his wife Tammy, and daughter Cheryl and her husband Earl. Also survived by brother Bob and wife Barabara and brother Butch and wife Peg. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Sandra was born April 26th, 1940 in Duluth, Minnesota where she graduated from Denfeld High School. She was walking home where she caught the eye of Robert in May of 1957 on the corner of Superior Street and 2nd Ave West. Bob thought, “There is a girl I would love to talk to” and a 65 year love affair was born. They were engaged at Enger Tower and married on March 8th, 1958. Being an Airforce wife, Sandra traveled the world, but her favorite places were Madison, Wisconsin, Duluth, Minnesota, Okinawa, Japan and Las Vegas, Nevada - where her children were born. After 11 moves, they chose Tucson to make their forever home. Sandra wore many hats; mom, Nanny, friend, and she wore them proudly. She became an NA, she was a beloved lunch lady, and the proud owner of The Salad Bar, but her favorite job was by far Nanny to the 45 grandchildren and great grandchildren that loved her like no other. She was also “mom” to many. She always had an open door and an open heart. She will be forever missed and will be the example of mom and nanny that we will live by. A Childhood with Nanny Searching for 4 leaf clovers, Hide and Go Seek And night tag with the cousins, Bubble baths, butter mints, and ice cream cups, Knitted blankets and peanut butter balls, Dr. Phil, Sally Jesse Raphael, Maury, and homemade pizza dough, Tins of popcorn and chips, peanut butter stuffed pretzels, Baseball games and “Look how big you have gotten”, Jerry Bobs and The Good Egg -By granddaughter, Katie Services will be on February 8th, 2024 at 2pm at Brings Funeral Home, 6910 E.
