Maria Ketina Escobar Forrer was born January 27, 1950 in Honduras. She lost her parents at very young age and grew up with her siblings Ofelia, Jesus (Chungo), Miguel, Andres, and Natividad (Nati). She was married to her husband Oscar Andreas Forrer August 9, 1969 for 36 years. But she never stopped counting the anniversary years preceding his death and considered themselves married until the end totaling 49 years of marriage. Mother to daughter Susana, sons Pedro, Jacobo, Antonio, daughters Maria Helena and Lily. She is also survived by sisters Ofelia, Nati and Chungo. Her grandchildren Jacob, Monica, Joel, Dominque, Lucas, Andrew, Alexis, Abigail, Juan Fernando and Gabriella. Her nephews DavÁd, Samuel, nieces Gladys and Sandra along with many more family in Honduras. We all knew Maria as a free spirit. She was persistent, strong, a fighter and once she set her mind to something, she was determined, not stopping until she had it or kept trying. She married when she was nineteen and set off to Canada with Oscar then to Blythe, California. In the loss of their daughter Susana, they moved to Arizona. She raised 5 children the best way she knew how. She meant a great deal for some giving them life changing moments. She helped her sister Nati and her family come to the United States for a better life. She tried to help her family in Honduras in the best way she could. She would remember important dates like birthdays, wedding anniversaries and random facts about celebrities. Just like any parent or person, she may have had her imperfections. But it is in those imperfections, we loved the quirks that make her unique. She loved to laugh and would say the most hilarious things that would make your belly muscles ache. She had style and class, loving to dress up accentuating her look with that special scarf. She was stubborn, but in that stubbornness showed her strength, determination and boldness. It was this characteristic about Maria, that carried her through the death of her son Pedro and her beloved husband Oscar. Truly, she was an amazingly strong person. We may have lost Maria in this world, but we will see her again. Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
