Delores Palmer
June 14th, 1929 - September 10th, 2018
Prominent Seaside business owner, Delores Palmer, passed away peacefully on Monday September 10th, at age 89. She lost her long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Delores fell in love with the Central Coast of California 51 years ago. She and her family moved to the Peninsula when her husband was deployed to the area at the end of his career in the United States Navy. She was born in 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida. Delores wanted to be a nurse her entire adult life. She fulfilled that dream in 1973, at the age of 44, when she graduated from Hartnell College of Nursing. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, she worked for various private duty patients, Monterey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and California Forensic Medical Group at the County Jail in Salinas, California. She was the owner of a skilled nursing home. Delores faced many difficult challenges in her life but never let those challenges get in the way of her ambition. She firmly believed that no one should be defined by their circumstances. She taught her children to nurture their dreams and the value of hard work. Delores is survived by her sister Doris Cummings Ford of Buffalo, New York; son Nicolas Palmer of Seaside; daughter Akila (Albert) Gibbs, Los Angeles; son Eugene (Jeanie) Palmer, Del Rey Oaks; son George (Daura) Palmer of Seaside, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her daughter Blythe Palmer predeceased her. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Los Angeles: 4221 Wilshire Blvd #400, Los Angeles, CA 90010. https://www.alzheimersla.org. The Family extends their sincere gratitude to Anjelica’s Villa, Leslie Foote M.D. and VNA Hospice for their loving care and support. A private graveside service will be held at Mission Memorial Park in Seaside on Sunday, September 30th at 1: pm. Please visit seasidefunerals.com to leave condolences to the family.

We Entrusted Delores Palmer's Care To
Mission Memorial Park
For almost 100 years, our cemetery has served the residents of the Monterey Bay Area. Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007 we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park....
