Gloria Mae Dial, 83, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012, in Salinas. She was born June 13, 1929, in Oakland. Gloria Mae Dial slipped peacefully to the other side early Saturday morning August 18, 2012 at Emeritus-Harden Ranch to rejoin her beloved husband Bill of 59 years who predeceased her last year. Gloria was born June 13, 1929 in Oakland, CA to George and Mary Sessums, the oldest of three daughters. She and Bill moved to Salinas in 1952 where they raised two sons. Gloria was primarily a homemaker, however, she is equally notable for founding the Monterey County Chapter of Crimestoppers Anonymous in 1991. In recognition of her efforts, Gloria was a 2001 Outstanding Woman in Monterey County Honoree by the Commission on the Status of Women. For a decade and a half, she and Bill would appear at any event in the Monterey Bay Area to promote Crimestoppers and to fingerprint and collect hair samples from children so that their parents would have identification and DNA in the event of an emergency. It is estimated they provided that service to over 10,000 children. Gloria and Bill opened the doors of their home several times taking in friends and family. She loved to cook. She even coerced Bill into remodeling the house and building a much larger kitchen so that she could do some catering. Gloria leaves behind sons Steve of Stockton, CA and Mark of Medford, OR, three grandchildren, Nicholas of Eureka, Christopher and Allison of Stockton and her sister Georgia of Prunedale. Friends and Family are invited to attend her Memorial Services at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. An Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.

We Entrusted Gloria Dial's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
