November 27th, 1937 - January 8th, 2018
Barbara Dieter Barbara was born in 1937 in Red Bluff to Frank and Gertrude Spanfelner who were orchardists in the area. She grew up along with three brothers, enjoying adventures in rural life with her cousin, Nancy Spanfelner (Garcia). After graduating from CSUC, she began a career in education, serving in both the Paradise and Chico schools. In 1960 she married George Dieter and the couple had three daughters. Barbara loved nature; the outdoors, gardening, and wildlife. After retirement she became a volunteer docent at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Bidwell Presbyterian Church. Barbara is survived by husband George; daughters Lisa Burns, Lori Dieter, and Linda Dieter-Martin; grandchildren Ashley and Jeremy Martin; brothers Frank and Fred Spanfelner of Red Bluff; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. There will be a Celebration of Barbara's Life at Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway, January 22nd, 2:00 P.M. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brusiefh.com
