Rita Lorraine Costa

Rita Lorraine Costa was born on May 12, 1935 to Stephen and Lena Ricci in McCloud, CA. After moving to Chico, Rita attended schools and graduated from Chico High School in 1953 where she was Head Drum Majorette. In 1955 Rita married Leonard Costa and together they raised seven children in Durham. Rita and Leonard were together for 50 years before Leonard's passing in 2005. In 2012 Rita married Christian Sauer. They were together until Christian passed away in 2017. Rita's survivors include her seven children, Rita Ann Costa-Bill, Lenette Costa, Monica Seaman, Leonard Costa Jr, Stephen Costa, Michael Costa, and MaryLisa Carrier. They had 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family is grateful to Almond Blossom Assisted living who became family and lovingly cared for Rita until her passing. A private Rosary and Mass will be held prior to a public graveside service Glen Oaks Memorial Park on Friday March 12th at 11:30. Donations may be made in her memory to the Chico Portuguese Holy Ghost and Fatima Club or Catholic Daughters in care of Brusie Funeral Home.
