Andrew Jasper Bonham

Andrew Jasper Bonham, of Valley Springs, CA, passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in Sacramento, CA. He was born in Lodi, CA on December 17, 1944 to Clarence and Mary (Enos) Bonham, and was the beloved husband of Terry Bonham for fifty-four years. Andy was raised in Ione, CA and graduated from Ione High School class of 1963. Even though he moved 14 miles across the county line, he still thought he lived in Ione, or “God’s Country” as he called it. After being a heavy equipment operator since 1966, Andy co-founded and operated Bonham Brothers, an earth moving business in Ione starting in 1980. His love of team roping resulted in building his own herd of roping cattle. Andy got a lot of joy from the many horses he raised through the years. Andy’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his generosity and community spirit, frequently donating his time and equipment to various organizations. Andy is survived by his devoted wife, Terry Bonham, of Valley Springs, CA; daughters, Andrea Bonham-Radogna and her husband Mike, of Ione, CA, and Colette Holmes, her husband Nathan and their daughter Rylie Holmes, of Ione, CA; sisters, Bonnie Aparicio, of Jackson, CA, and Elmerie Smith, of Ione, CA; brothers, Chuck Bonham, of Sulfer, OK, and Bud Bonham, of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Lavagnino and Beverly Clark. A gathering celebrating Andy’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. at the Bonham Ranch. He will be interred in Ione Public Cemetery, Ione, CA.
