John L. Willis, a local CPA who practiced in Pittsburg for 40 years, died April 18th after several years of declining health. He was born 3 October 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gordon L. and Beatrice Pugh Willis. He attended Salt Lake City schools, graduated from West High, and the University of Utah with a BS Degree in Accounting. After graduation he went to work for a large accounting firm in San Francisco and moved to Concord in 1961. He obtained a Masters Degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. He opened his own firm in the early 1970's. Survived by his wife, Thurza, to whom he was married for 54 years; children, Melanie Coyl (Kevin) of Camp Hill, PA, and Lawrence (Anita) Willis, of Corinth, Texas; 3 grand-children; 3 great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Willis (Sharon) of Tooele, Utah; two sisters, Gayle Andersen (Bent) of Roy, Utah, and Donna Moyers (Steven) of Litchfield Park, Arizona. He was pre-deceased by one sister, Virginia Gubler (George) of Hurricane, Utah. The family wishes to express thanks to the wonderful nurses at the Kaiser Walnut Creek Oncology/ Hematology Department, Drs. J.F. Simmons and M.T. Huynh, as well as Kaiser Hospice for their dedicated care, and to all those who donated blood. Viewing on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Magleby's Family Mortuary, Oak Park Hills Chapel, 3111 N. Main St., Walnut Creek. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 21st at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1590 Denkinger Road, Concord, CA, with viewing at the church an hour before the service. Internment will follow at Oakmont Cemetery, Lafayette, CA. Visitation Thursday, April 21, 2011 10:00 am-11:00 am Visitation Wednesday, April 20, 2011 06:00 pm-08:00 pm
