Edward Anthony Manning, Jr., 96, of Winter Haven, Fl passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Life Care Center of Winter Haven. Born January 7, 1922 in Staten Island, NY, he moved to Florida 35 years ago and moved to Winter haven 21 years ago from Inverness, FL. He was a veteran of the US Army and was serving at Pearl Harbor when the attack came that brought the United States into WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Edward was retired from the Staten Island Ferry as a supervisor. He was a member of the New York Road Runners Club and ran marathons and an avid bowler and had bowled a perfect 300. He is preceded by his wife Millie on June 14, 2018. He is survived by: a daughter, Helen Makuta and her husband Tom of Winter Haven; a son, Edward J Manning and his wife Eileen of Staten Island, NY; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm till 7:00pm, Monday, August 27, 2018 at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven.
