Matilda O. Zamora

Matilda O. Zamora, 77, of Lake Wales, FL went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2021. She was born April 9, 1943 in Sandia, TX to Cruz Ortiz Sr. and Elodia Pulido. She came to Haines City, FL in 1970 from Freemont, OH, worked at South by Southwest for 2 years, until she retired in 2005 and she was of the catholic faith. Matilda loved yard selling, gardening and shopping. She devoted her life to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching them grow. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Estella Padilla; brothers, Robert Ortiz and Franky Ortiz; and her son-in-law, Brent C. Barker . Matilda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Ruben Barrera of Lake Wales, FL, Rey Zamora and girlfriend, Jeri Bowen of Dundee, FL, and Roel “Bubba” Zamora and wife, Marilyn of Lake Wales, FL; daughter, Melva Barker of Lake Wales, FL; brothers, Cruz Ortiz Jr., Lupe Ortiz, Israel Ortiz and wife, Abby and David Ortiz; sisters, Dora Simmons, Elodia Wilson and husband, Ray and Eva Lester and husband Jerry; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 1st, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church. Final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City, FL.
