Martha Jean Padgett Avery, 65 Martha Jean, known as 'Geeya' or 'Jeanie' to the many that knew and loved her, entered the eternal embrace of her Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of December 28, 2014. She left us peacefully, at her home in Melbourne, FL, surrounded by the joyful sounds of her adoring grandchildren. Jeanie was born on March 22, 1949, to the late William (Billy) Padgett and Evelyne Wright Padgett, in Alexandria, Virginia. She graduated from Fort Hunt High School and attended Ferrum College, where she enjoyed playing many sports activities. She worked for the Alexandria Police Department, where she met and married John F. Avery, in October 1973. Together, they lovingly raised their 3 children, Scott W. Avery, Jennifer L. Avery Wilson, and Alicia A. Avery-Shuey, before moving to Melbourne, Florida in the year 2000. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, often volunteering hundreds of hours of time in local schools, scout camps, at Cocoa Beach Karate, and Space Coast Soccer. She leaves many loving memories to be cherished by her husband, children, friends, and her grandchildren, Gannon N. Avery, Destin T. Avery-Shuey, Isabelle G. Wilson, Gabrielle A. Wilson, and Elise M. Wilson. She will be remembered for her determination, generous heart, and how she was always a servant to others. A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Chapel 412 Youth Ministries Mexico Mission Team at Calvary Chapel, 2955 Minton Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904
