Christopher Scott Herring 25 of Largo, Florida, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 12, 2007. He was born September 21, 1982, at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, and moved to St. Petersburg in 1985. He attended Northside Christian School where he lettered in Track and Field and was a member of the prestigious Royal Ambassador Marching Band. He was a 2001 graduate of Indian Rocks Christian School where he was a member of the award winning Regiment Marching Band. He served as the band?s student director, first chair trumpet player and a band officer. As a baby, Chris always enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together. He tinkered with his mom?s car at the age of four! That love continued and he decided early in his high school years that he wanted to pursue a career in automotive technology, specifically Mercedes Benz. He attended Universal Technical Institute UTI in Houston, Texas, where he earned his Associates Degree in 2002. He was invited by Mercedes Benz to participate in their Elite training program based on his performance, knowledge and attendance. He was hired by Crown Eurocars prior to his 2003 graduation from Elite to be part of ?The Best of the Best? as a Mercedes technician. He quickly reached his next career goal and achieved the certification of Systems Technician Master Certified. Just a few weeks ago, he achieved the next step in his career path when he received a promotion to Team Leader. His passion for Mercedes did not end with work! He drove a Mercedes, wore Mercedes logo wear and even went so far as to name his cat Mercedes! He was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, Civitan International and a volunteer at Pinellas Association for Retarded Children PARC. Everyone that knew Chris knows?he loved life! He loved his job, his family and friends. He pursued his dreams, was fun to be around, would never be caught without his ?Oakley shades? and NEVER had a bad hair day! His sensitivity to others, contagious laugh and practical jokes made you want to be around him. If you ever needed something?he was there for you! He is survived by his mother, Barb Thomas and brother or as Chris would call him ?bro? Michael Herring, both of Largo, Florida; Curt and Peggy Thomas, grandparents The Villages, Florida, two aunts, Tracy Chastain Ft. Myers, Florida and Susan Kubler Oldsmar, Florida; and seven cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chris Herring Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 7820 ? 38th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. This fund will be awarded to students of single parents. We can cry and grieve with hope, because we know we will see Chris again one day. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home-Tyrone Chapel
