Valerie Dawn Vaughan
November 25th, 1959 - December 31st, 2021
VALERIE “DAWN” VAUGHAN Valerie Dawn (Johnston) Vaughan of LaBelle, passed away on Friday, December 31st, 2021, at the age of 62. ‘Dawn’ was born on November 25th in Fort Myers, Florida, to the late Harold and Mildred (Winn) Johnston. Dawn loved her family and friends. She never met a stranger! Dawn was a fun-loving, free-spirited soul. She is smiling down on us from Heaven as she kicks up her heels with her new angel wings she earned while being a faithful servant and kind-hearted person here on Earth. She loved the North Carolina mountains, searching out Elk, and visiting her second home in Waynesville. She also loved to travel to Tennessee to see her extended family. Dawn is survived by her husband of 38 years, Thomas Vaughan, Sr.; her brother, Harold ‘Hal’ Johnston; her son Alan Brown, his wife, Trudy Brown; grandsons, Jackson and Thomas Brown; stepson Thomas Vaughan, Jr and his wife Susan; Nephew, Brian Johnston; Nieces, Karlie and Ashley Johnston; her cats, Sassy, Rufus, Kid and Junior. She is also survived by numerous cousins and lifelong friends…. When someone met Dawn, she became a treasured friend for life. Her friends truly stretched from coast to coast. Family and friends are invited to Akin-Davis Funeral Home in LaBelle on Monday, January 10th from 5-7PM for visitation and to a graveside service to honor Dawn on Tuesday, January 11th at 10AM at Fort Denaud Cemetery. Dawn loved daisies, but in lieu of flowers, you may also make a donation to Hope Hospice (www.hopehospice.com) or to the National Park Foundation that Dawn visited so often (http://give.nationalparks.org/goto/Dawn_Vaughan). If you would like to share any pictures or memories you have of Dawn with the family, you can email them to [email protected].
