Geraldine Davidson Ogle, age 88, passed away September 8, 2020. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Doyle Ogle, mother Lela Davidson, father Leroy Davidson, and brother Eugene Davidson. Geraldine was born in Arcadia and lived her entire life in Manatee County. She was a devout Christian who leaned on her faith in all situations and was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. She will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery in DeSoto County, FL; services will be privately held on the grounds. In lieu of flowers please remit donations to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the Florida Baptist Children’s Home in memory of Geraldine Ogle. Geraldine is survived by her sister Earlene Hobson of Tampa, FL. Earlene and Geraldine loved each other very much, and there are many fun, happy memories the two share. The sisters enjoyed visiting and laughing with each other, while watching their families grow. They looked so much alike as children it was hard to tell them apart! Geraldine was a graduate of Manatee High School where she was a cheerleader. She would tell you she had lots of fun in high school. She had several lifelong friends who stuck together throughout her life, and we know there are many wonderful stories that have come out of those unique friendships. She worked at the Manatee County tag office with several of her friends, and they loved going to estate sales on Thursdays. Geraldine cherished those friendships. There are 3 children from the marriage of Geraldine and Doyle. Karen Dring of Myakka City, spouse Bob Dring, Charles Ogle, spouse Dena Ogle, and the youngest Brenda Browning. She has 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her, and she loved having everyone over to her house for get-togethers. She loved holding the babies and watching the children play. Everyone knew, that in the refrigerator on the left bottom drawer were bags of candy. She would say she did not eat it but wanted to have it for the kids. Her family will miss her smile and laugh every day. Geraldine loved to cook, bake, and sew. She made beautifully decorated cakes that just happened to be delicious. During Christmas time she would fill the house with cakes, cookies, and candy. There is only one place that makes pralines like she did, and none that can match her pound cake. She entered some of her needle work into the county fair, winning first place. She was meticulous in all that she did. She would have that look of “I told you so” but would ease the look with a pimento and cheese sandwich and a glass of sweet tea. She loved growing orchids in her back yard. She is the only one in the family who really was not an animal lover, but she did have several pets she enjoyed and put up with all the rest. She lived in Myakka City for many years and found great solace there. The front porch was where she would enjoy sitting in a rocking chair and looking out over the land. She took great pride in a job well done, no matter how long it took. Mom, job well done. We love you.
