Bernice, 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 17 at her group home in Shoreline, Washington. She enjoyed being with her family, talking with her friends, playing bridge and other games, reading books, and watching baseball.Bernice was born Aug. 12, 1917, in a small log house on a farm near Victor, Montana, to Earl and Cora Dennis. She was the oldest of two daughters. The family moved to Stevensville when she was 10. After high school, Bernice attended Business College in Long Beach, California.After college, Bernice had various jobs in Long Beach including working for the War Department during World War II. Bernice moved to Missoula, Montana and worked for the U.S. Forest Service for several years before marrying Clarence Brown in 1954. Clarence was a single parent raising three small children at the time so Bernice became an instant Mom in addition to a wife.The family resided in Target Range until Clarences death in 1983. Subsequently, Bernice moved to an apartment in Missoula and remained there until 2000.In 2000, Bernice moved to the Seattle area to be near her daughter Linda. She remained there until her death.Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Cora, husband Clarence, sister Louise, and granddaughter Vanessa.Bernice is survived by sons W. Ted Brown (Donna) of Staten Island, New York, S. Don Brown (Linda) of Littleton, Colorado, and daughter Linda L. Brown of Bothell, Washington. Also surviving are five grandchildren, one great grandchild, a nephew and niece, and several great nephews and nieces.Cremation has taken place and at Bernices request there will be no memorial service.Donations in Bernices memory may be made to the Target Range School Library Fund, attn: Tammi Tulverg, 4095 S Ave W, Missoula, MT 59804.Messages of condolence may be sent to the family online at [email protected].
