Memorial

Kathryn J. Scotton, 72, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2015 at her home in Venice, FL. A former resident of Hillsborough, NJ, Kathy was born in Newark, NJ, to Louis and Jean Rosania, and was a proud 1965 graduate of Caldwell College. She began teaching in Somerville, NJ, and spent most of her 25-year public school career as a dedicated mathematics teacher at Branchburg Central Middle School in Branchburg, NJ, until retirement in 2001. Kathryn loved music and definitely loved to dance. She was usually first on the dance floor at any wedding, especially if the band kicked off with Bob Seger's ""Old Time Rock and Roll."" She had an extraordinary knack for solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and was a sharp card player, getting together regularly with friends for competitive fun. She was a bird lover with a passion for nature photography who captured the beauty of flowers, butterflies, birds and trees. She was also an enthusiastic reader and a regular at the Hillsborough Library where she would check out the latest mystery novels and research travel she was planning with family or friends. Kathy will be most fondly remembered for her life-long friendships far and wide, from college forever friends, families in Country Club Homes, Roycefield Swim Club and others in Hillsborough, teaching colleagues turned long-time friends and the book club ladies, to the new friendships forged during retirement in Venice, FL. Kathryn is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Vincent P. Scotton, daughters Patricia J. DeVletter and Mary K. Scotton and their spouses Ernest DeVletter and Noelani Scotton, and three cherished grandchildren Louie DeVletter, Gabriel Scotton and Max Donahue, and many friends, all of whom loved her deeply. A celebration of her life is being planned. A New Jersey venue and date will be selected soon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, PO Box 62885, Baltimore, MD 21264-2885 or online at www.ovariancancer.org.
