Edward Anton Knoll
June 4th, 1931 - February 28th, 2013
Edward Anton Knoll was born June 4, 1931 in Menoken, Burleigh County, North Dakota. He was the oldest of six children born to Michael and Mary Knoll. He attended rural school and worked on the family farm until entering the US Marine Corp and was honorably discharged as Lance corporal. When he returned from military service; he worked for Bismarck Ready-Mix (Mandan/Bismarck) driving truck and pouring cement. In 1955 Ed married Selma A. Heck and in 1956 they moved to Seattle with their first child, Mark. They had three other children Ron, Doreen and Laurie and eventually moved to a larger home in Mountlake Terrace, WA. When Ed first moved to Seattle he went to work for Boeing and later went to work for Issacsons Steel because they paid 10 cent an hour more. After many years working for Issacsons, when the company sold the business, Ed went to work for Seaport Steel and retired from there in 1999. What could one say about Eds hobbies/activities? Ed love to drive for the sheer joy of driving, especially his many trips to North Dakota to visit his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed reading historical and detective literature. However, his greatest, fondest activities were whatever his children were involved in: sor, putting in yards, mowing grass, working on cars, changing tires for the grandkids, walking the dogs. He lived for his children. His children agreed that Dad never really got mad, not at us (except for the time that one of the girls poked holes in the dashboard of the car). Ed was a member of St. Pius X Parish for 51 years, faithfully attending Mass and receiving Holy Communion and always sitting in the very same spot in the very last row. Ed was able to receive the Lord in Communion up to his last few days. Ed is survived by his two sons, Mark (Juli) Knoll of Woodinville, WA; Ron (Daphne) Knoll of Everett, WA; and his daughter Laurie Knoll of Lake Stevens, WA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michael, Amanda, Bailey, David, John, Krista, and Kyla; seven great-grandchildren, Adora, Keegan, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Jason, Loukas, and Rylie all who live in the greater Everett/Seattle area. Also surviving Ed are his three siblings: Nick (Charlene) Knoll of Bismarck, North Dakota, Ken (Judi) Knoll of Barstow, California and Advina (Paul) Kenyon of Bullhead City Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Knoll, his daughter Doreen Knoll-Carmack, granddaughter Jillian Knoll, brother Leonard Knoll, sister Min Krein and his beloved Selma. Ed was a kind and gentle man, always ready to greet you with a smile and a kiss. He was a simple man with very simple needs and/or wants. He lived a good faithful life. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Well done, good and faithful servant; now enter into your eternal reward. Matt 25:21 Announcement: Remembrances/Memorials may be made in Eds name to: Alzheimers Association, Western and Central Washington State Chapter, North Tower, 100 West Harrison Street, N200, Seattle, WA 98119; 206-529-3869. p
