Galen Francis Lee

Galen passed away after a long illness on February 16, 2014. Born May 18, 1931 in Berkeley, California; Galen is survived by his sister, Genya Lee Lyon of Antelope, CA; daughters Bernardine Lee of Edmonds, WA, Denise Lee of Antelope, CA; seven nieces and one nephew; and Betty Nevarez, his caregiver and dear friend.His first wife, Alberta, died in 2000 and his second wife Alleta, died in 2006. He is also preceded in death by his brother, George Sydney Lee.Galen was a machinist by occupation and worked at Boeing until 1995. In his retirement, he pursued his love of music, playing the bassoon in various musical groups and orchestras in the Puget Sound region. The last decade of his life he was involved with the Edmonds Senior Center, where he immersed himself in musical performance playing the recorder, bassoon, singing with the Sound Singers and playing with the Sound Swingers and taking dance lessons. Galen was a friendly, good-humored, kind man who loved and sincerely appreciated his family and friends.A Viewing followed by a Rosary was held February 23, 2014 at Becks Tribute Center, in Edmonds. The Funeral Mass and reception followed on February 24, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Edmonds; with the Graveside service with Military Honors following at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Edmonds Senior Center in Galens name.
