Director of Labor Relations for the City of Seattle, noted fly fisherman, climber, husband, and father. David passed away on April 22, 2017 in Edmonds, WA. He was born on January 5, 1955 to Fred and Dorothy Bracilano. The family later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1965. David graduated from Medeira High School in 1973, where he was captain of the football team. Many of his teammates remained life-long friends. In that same year, David decided he would set out west to climb mountains and attend college. Naturally, he settled on the picturesque Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. While at WWU, David met his eventual wife, Katharine Weeks, along with a whole host of climbing buddies. David graduated from WWU in 1977.He then joined the Peace Corps in 1979 and was sent to the Marshall Islands. For two and a half years, David lived on an island that was 3.8 sq miles in area and inhabited by roughly 60 Marshallese residents. He spent many days fishing, attempting to cultivate the land, and teaching the Marshallese the game of cribbage. David even survived a harrowing shark attack while in the Peace Corps. David finally came to his senses and married the love of his life, Katie in 1982 in Seattle. He continued to work as a recruiter for the Peace Corps until 1986. He then attended graduate school at the University of Washington, graduating with a Masters Degree in Public Administration in 1988. During his schooling, David interned with the City of Seattle Department of Labor Relations as an analyst. This eventually launched his 30 year career with the City of Seattle, culminating in his position as Director of Labor Relations.Katie and David welcomed their daughter, Adelina Linda Bracilano, to the world on June 24, 1990. Not long after, their son Anthony Peter Bracilano was born on November 23, 1991. Both children, along with the help of their mother, were instrumental in stopping David from leaving the house in various absurd outfits. Never known for his fashion sense, David always had to rely on his family to keep him presen. One of Davids biggest passions was fly fishing. He tied his own flies and built his own fishing rods. Nothing made him happier than spending an entire day out on the lake, attempting to solve the puzzle of getting the fish to bite. He truly loved the outdoors and exploring all of the beauty that Washington has to offer. David is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Katie; daughter Adelina; son Anthony; brothers Fred and Peter Bracilano; sister Shakti Linda Bracilano; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
