Walter James Fields, age 77, of Venice, Florida, passed away on May 17, 2014. He was born on December 19, 1936 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania where he lived for 59 years then after his retirement he moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina then to Venice, Florida. Walter proudly served in the United States Air Force then worked for a company in the defense industry his entire career. He was a great husband and father and was loved by all! Walter was not much of a golfer but a joy to play with. Commonly known as ""Chicken legs Fields"" or âno ass Fields"". He was a car enthusiast and avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Walter leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Maryann E. Fields (nee Centrella); his daughters, Michele (Alan) Dawson, Susan (Albert) DiGiacomo, Mia Fields; a grandson, Matthew Dawson; two sisters, Rosemary LeFever, Anna Chellew and a brother, Joseph Fields. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Logan Fields, Anna Fields (nee Stockert) and a sister, Geraldine Gimaro. Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota County, Florida. Checks may be made payable to Tidewell Hospice and forwarded to the Philanthropy Department, Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238 or those individuals who wish to make a credit card donation online can visit their website and www.givetotidewell.org.
