Bryan Faulkner
November 15th, 1951 - March 25th, 2018
Dewey Bryan Faulkner died March 25, 2018. He was born November 15, 1951 in Bluefield, WV, the son of Dewey Faulkner, Sr. and Lauralee Compton Faulkner. His sister, Lennie Lou (Rick) Tabor, and brother, Everett (Mary) Faulkner, survive. He loved his nieces, Leslie and Heather, and Leslie’s daughters, all who survive. Also surviving is his partner and love, Sue McCormick, and, of course, sweet Bilbo. He was a salesman who loved stories, jokes, and people. He sold coal crushers and leased commercial trucks. He found computers and technology fascinating, and was intensely proud of the Hewlett Packard products he represented as a territorial sales rep for retail marketing in the greater Cincinnati area. After he retired, he liked to unravel glitches with personal computers and talk with the friends he made in the process. He loved to play golf with friends and those who would become friends. He was an avid UK basketball fan, carefully eying the upcoming recruiting classes and enjoying the promise of an exciting season and maybe another banner. He was proud of the young men who went on to success in the NBA and in life. He loved music, notably, Yes, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, Traffic, Tom Petty and the Beatles. But he was always open to discover and enjoy the gifts of emerging singers, songwriters, and bands. And he loved Lady Gaga and awards shows and good movies. Some favorites were “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”, “The Big Lebowski,” “Tin Men,” and “The Lord of the Ring” trilogy. Especially he loved being a part of the Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship and being sober for a long time. The soul sharings from those struggling with alcoholism and the destruction it causes, the hope and promise spoken by those who saw some light today, the gratitude shared when we realized God had come through yet again, the humility of turning our wills and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him. He loved the meetings, the step studies, the conversations, the phone calls, the meals after meetings, the laughter, and the golf. In lieu of flowers, you can honor his memory by hugging and listening to those you love and being kind to those you don’t. Thanks to all those people who shared their expertise and their loving care, especially the Mall Rats and other fire fighters, those with Kindred-at-Home and Hospice, and individual doctors, nurses, assistants, and staff along the way. A celebration of life will be Sunday, April 8th at The Alano Club, 370 East Second Street in Lexington. Visitation from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm and with meeting to follow. All are invited to participate.
