Died January 5, 2016 in Seattle of complications following surgery. Jim was born in Spokane to James (Sr) and Leona Morrison, December 19, 1936. As a young child, Jim and his family moved to Seattle where his father went to work for Shell Oil Company. After returning home from the war, James Sr. opened Morrison Realty and Construction Company, settling the family in the View Ridge area. Jim graduated from Roosevelt High School and the University of Washington, where he was on the Universitys crew team, attended ROTC and joined Psi Upsilon fraternity. Following in his fathers footsteps, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Korea, where he served proudly. Home on leave in 1960, Jim and his fiance Linda Pierce were married and then moved to Kansas, where Jim was now stationed. Daughter Christy was born there in 1961. After serving his enlistment, the family returned home to Seattle where he went to work for Time Oil Company. In 1963, son Steve was born, and Jim later went to work for University Federal Savings and Loan, eventually achieving the position of Vice-President. Jim left University Federal and started a successful career in the Mortgage lending industry. In 1987, he achieved his dream of starting his own business, opening a Real Estate Escrow company in the Lynnwood area, which he operated for 24 years. It was satisfying for Jim to have his son Steve join him at the company, for it reminded him of the times that he worked with his father at Morrison Realty. After suffering a small stroke, Jim eventually retired from the business, mainly to his large vegetable garden at home, where his organic vegetables were a delight to everyone. He loved a lot of things in life: family and friends, a good joke, lunch with his buddies and that wonderful garden, happily giving away virtually all he grew, and his green thumb and generous nature (and that sense of humor!) will be sorely missed by all. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, William and John. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda; sister Mary Murray (Matt), of Sun Valley, Idaho; daughter Christy Scussel (John) of Lynnwood, and son Steve of Mill Creek; his beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends and business associates, that he has networked over his many years in business. The family would like to thank the doctors at Swedish Hospital Seattle, especially Dr. Alexander Farivar and Dr. Andreas Schneider, for their wonderful dedication, care and compassion to dad and his family during his time at Swedish. Thanks also to the nurses and staff at 6 th floor East ICU Swedish First Hill for their excellent care for dad during his stay.
