Elsie Maria Demers
September 8th, 1934 - May 4th, 2015
Beloved daughter, wife, mother and nana Elsie left this life peacefully May 4, 2015; she had been battling cancer.Elsie met her cancer opponent head-on with her strong faith in God and a positive attitude. Everyone around her said she was amazing! Our mom was born to Hilda and Joseph Keckeis September 8, 1934. Hilda was from Germany and Joseph from Austria. Elsie was raised in Chehalis, Washington where she attended St. Josephs Catholic School. She graduated from Chehalis High School in 1952. Elsie left home after graduation for the city of Seattle, where she worked for the telephone company (Ma Bell). A year after moving to Seattle Elsie was introduced via a mutual friend to the man who would be her husband for fifty years, Victor Demers. They were married in 1954, and welcomed their first child, Ron, in 1955. Two and a half years later Susan followed in 1957. Elsie and Victor made their home in Shoreline, Washington, where our mom still lived in the same home right up to her final days with us. She was a determined and independent woman, and enjoyed a twenty-five year career with Hallmark. Victor passed away ten years ago. Following our dads death, our mom kept her life filled with family and friends. She was active at St. Marks Parish and met many wonderful people, who have been so supportive and helpful throughout her illness.Elsie will be remembered and missed by her family: her son Ron Demers (Diane) and daughter Susan Reynolds (Jim) and her grandchildren Nikki and Chelsea Reynolds, Angela and Adam Demers. Our parents were the best parents and nana and papa you are so loved.Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Hilda Keckeis, her husband Victor Demers, granddaughter Diane Demers, grandson Michael Marcinkus.A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 18033 15th Place NE in Shoreline, on Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 10:3 a.m., with Reception immediately following.Remembrances may be made in her honor to the Carmelite Monastery and St. Vincent DePaul.
