Barry Lee Chief Dunlop Jr. was born in Anchorage, Alaska on April 15, 1964. He graduated from Diamond High School with the class of 1982. He went to trade school at the Denver Institute of Technology in 1984 and worked many years as a welder in the boat industry in Seattle and Edmonds, Washington. Barry came to Washington State shortly after finishing school in Denver, Colorado in 1984 to be with his family in Edmonds, Washington. He was active as a hockey player throughout his school years from Taku Elementary through high school. He attended a non-denominational church. Barrys favorite poem was this Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the mornings hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand by my grave and cry, I am not there; I did not die. an Indian Hopi prayer given to him by a Native American friend. Family and friends remember his kindness and sense of humor and contagious laugh. He was an example of how we should treat others.
