The voice of Darke County and owner of WDRK radio station from 1968-1996, Lee Rutherford has transitioned to heaven. This giant of a Godly man cared deeply for his family. He never missed one day praying for his family with his wife, Sue. He was a man’s, man, a preacher’s friend, a lover of all people and one of the largest listeners and givers you would ever meet. He lived life to the fullest and did it with his family in mind. He loved his coffee, making memories, and talking to people. He loved people and people loved him. He started Tower Sound & Communications while in Greenville to pursue a venture that would eventually spearhead “in store” broadcasting for companies such as Kmart (he became the voice of Kmart) and Jamesway which evolved into another corporation in KY called EchoSat that would use satellite technology in helping with multiple stores for POS processing and security. He and his family moved from Greenville Ohio to Lexington Kentucky in 1996 to continue and pursue Tower Communications Group and EchoSat with monumental success. He sold the company in 2014 that he founded 41 years ago. Over the last 6 years, Lee has been focused on spending quality time with his wife and family. He never stopped gaining knowledge and asking for Wisdom. He was a man of Legacy. Cecil "Lee" Rutherford Sr., 77, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020.
