Walter (Bud) Kuhn died peacefully in his home in Venice, Florida on May 27th after a short illness at the age of 92. He was married to Estelle (Petie) Kuhn for 69 years until her death in September 2009. Surviving family includes his daughter, Ellen Leedy, a realtor in Tampa, his son Dr. Ted Kuhn and daughter-in-law, Dr. Sharon Kuhn both of the Medical College of Georgia and Mission to the World. His grandson Dr. Joshua Kuhn is serving as a physician in US Navy and his granddaughter Dr. Lydia Kuhn is a Medicine/Pediatrics resident at the University of Tennessee. Bud graduated from Gettysburg College in 1940 and entered the Marine Corps attaining the rank of Captain. He served in the First Marine Division in the Pacific at Guadalcanal, Cape Glouster, New Briton, Peleliu, Okinawa and New Guinea. He received multiple combat awards including the Purple Heart. He was a CPA for 40 years working with his father in “Kuhn and Company” of Harrisburg. Bud invested heavily in his community. He served as the first president of the Colonial Crest Community Association in Harrisburg, President of the Harrisburg Kiwanis Club, President of the Harrisburg Executives Club, Past Potentate of Zembo Shrine Temple, Past President of the Zembo Shrine Luncheon Club, President of the Harrisburg Y’s Men’s Club and was a board member of the Bethesda Mission, YMCA, Kiwanis Club, PTA and the Boy Scouts. He was most proud to have been one of the organizers and founding members of Faith Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg and was a ruling elder and faithful member of the choir for many years. After moving to Florida he attended Venice Presbyterian Church.
