Lise Hastings White, 58, a longtime Edmonds, WA resident, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2017 after a heroic battle with Lymphoma. Lise was born on November 14, 1959 in Phoenix, AZ to Roy and Jan Hastings. She grew up in sunny Arizona and attended University of Arizona in Tucson. In 1981, she struck out on her own in Denver, CO and worked as an office manager at ATEC Engineering. At ATEC, she ran the tightest accounts receivable department in the entire company. It was there that she also met a charming ATEC engineer named Dean White. After keeping their office romance undercover, Dean and Lise were married in March of 1985 at Trinity UMC in downtown Denver, CO. Soon thereafter, their first child, Melissa Erin White was born in March of 1986. Three years and one move to California later, their second child, Matthew Carl White, was born in June of 1989. Lise worked as a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her children. Dean continued his engineering profession in California and eventually moved the family to Edmonds, WA in 1991. There Lise enjoyed all the delights of motherhood, taking both kids to soccer, swimming, and crew practice and everything in between. She was the ultimate mom, welcoming all Melissa and Matt’s friends into her home as her own, whether on breaks from school, or drop-ins for a home-cooked meal. She served as mentor to countless other kids through her volunteer work with School Bell, and vacation bible school. She enriched all those around her, especially those in her bible study, and local neighborhood garden club. Lise was a wife, a mom, and a friend. She didn’t let her cancer define her. She had what she called, “an eternal perspective” that was informed by her deep Christian faith. Even after multiple cancer treatments, she kept her cheerful disposition, her strength of heart and faith, and her caring attitude and still beat everyone in this room getting her Christmas cards in the mail. Lise is survived by her daughter Melissa White and her son Matthew White and her daughter-in-law Amanda Arrigotti-White, plus her 4 siblings and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
