Guy “Butch” Bobby Cappiccie Jr., 77, passed away on March 17, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones, including his loyal companion and partner-in-crime, Dino. His final weeks were filled with many visits from family and friends, expressing their love and appreciation for him. Butch was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on June 24, 1946, to the late Guy Bobby Cappiccie, Sr. And Betty June Riggs. He grew up in Livingston, Kentucky and was raised by Ottis and Fannie (McClure) Mink and her family. Butch worked as a machine operator for IBM/Lexmark until retirement, but his true passion in life was helping others. He lived in the Monticello subdivision in Lexington, KY for over 55 years and if you lived in that area and needed help with just about anything during that time frame, he was the “go to guy”. Whether it was a car stuck on an icy hill or needing mechanical repairs, a leaky roof needing patched, lawn equipment needing repaired, groundhogs destroying your garden, or you needed to borrow a tool or find a very specific “thingamajig” for something that needed fixed, he was your man. On the rare occasion he couldn’t fix it himself, he knew someone who could. He was constantly finding used lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners, bikes, clocks, and all other manner of things and repairing them and finding someone in need to give them to. He loved fixing all things, gardening, watching Westerns, country cooking, and bargain shopping, and he and Dino could frequently be found hitting up yard/garage sales, Wellington Dog Park, or sitting on their covered front porch and visiting with friends. Butch was often affectionately referred to as the “Mayor of Monticello,” and multiple neighbors have expressed that the neighborhood will never be the same without him. His presence will be sorely missed by everyone whose lives he has touched. Butch is survived by his daughters; Cathy Anne Cappiccie and Amy Carol Cappiccie (Kevin Norris); grandchild, Quinn Norris; niece, Sandra Tyree; nephew, Terry Tyree; great nephews, Billy Abel and Michael Caudill, and a host of extended family and life-long friends/neighbors. He is also survived by his devoted shadow and companion Dino, who shall forever be a Daddy’s boy, as well as his adoring grand-pets ChaeChae, Dobby, Luna, Lupin, and George Weasley, who shall forever miss their Papaw. Butch was preceded in death by his birth parents; his heart parents (Ottis and Fannie Mink); his beloved wife of 50 years, Phyllis Abel Cappiccie; his sisters, Kathleen Mink Tyree and Connie Darlene Maynard; brother, Ernest Mink, and nephew, James Dale Middleton. There will be a Celebration of Life for Butch at Clark Legacy Center, 601 E. Brannon Road, Nicholasville KY 40356 on Saturday April 6, 2024, from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
