Patti Sullivan died suddenly and unexpectedly at Swedish Edmonds CCU on 5/3/2019, surrounded by family and friends. She died from complications of a rare auto-immune disease. Patti was born in Los Angeles and raised in La Cañada CA, near Pasadena. She attended St Bede Catholic School, La Canada High School, and Pasadena CC where she graduated with a degree in business and art. At the age of six she knew she wanted to be a graphic designer, and that dream came true. She worked in Los Angeles as a graphic designer, and started her own design agency. In 1980 Patti and her mom moved to Edmonds, WA to escape the smog, traffic, and pollution of LA. In the Seattle area she worked as an art director, book publisher, and freelancer at PR and ad agencies. In 1988 she started working at Microsoft at the Redmond campus, and worked there for 21 years. She was a Sr. Print Production Specialist, a Sr. Marketing Operations Manager, and a SR. Packaging Program Manager. She and her teams won many awards for their packaging designs for Office and Vista and more. Patti traveled the world for Microsoft, going to Singapore, Brazil, China and Ireland, and also travelled to Australia, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Mexico on vacation. Patti was a volunteer director for many years for the Edmonds Arts Festival. She loved getting to know the artists and her favorite thing was putting on the Saturday night dinner for them. Once she retired Patti had more time and energy for her Arts Festival duties, her friends and family, travelling, cooking, baking, and tending her veggie garden, summer concerts, and Broadway musicals. She started watercolor painting again a few years ago and met weekly with her paint girlfriends. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Celestia (Slater) and John Louis Sullivan. She is survived by her sister Jerri Nicol (Drew) of La Cañada CA, brothers Jim Sullivan of Atlanta GA and John Sullivan (Judy) of Salem OR, six nieces and nephews- John, Chris, Sean, Laura Jane, Kelly, and Andrew- and six great-nieces and nephews. There was no service held locally but a memorial mass was held on 6/1/2019 at St. Bede the Venerable Church in La Cañada CA. Patti is missed by her many friends and co-workers more than words can express. She was always the first to jump in when anyone needed help. She loved the beach with a passion, her friends and pets with all of her heart, and Hallmark movies almost as much. Oh, and shoes.
