Richard D. Urich, age 78, of Venice, Florida, passed away on August 12, 2009. He was born on September 18, 1930 to Robert & Lillian (Buckert) Urich in Arco, Idaho. Graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Dick served his country with the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean Conflict and afterwards as a Captain with the reserves. He then worked for 30+ years as a Civil Engineer with Al Johnson Construction Company out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dick and his wife Patricia have been yearly visitors to Venice since the late 70’s and became permanent residents in 2002. He was a member of the Capri Isles Golf Club, the American Legion Post # 159, Elks Lodge and the V.F.W. Dick enjoyed his time serving on the homeowner’s association board. Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia; two children, Wesley of Minneapolis, MN and Darla of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Robert of Arizona and a sister Patsy of Idaho. He also leaves behind two precious granddaughters, Alissa (17) and Samantha (15), many nieces and nephews and many people whose lives he touched.
