Ruth Mae Ferguson, 101, of Port Charlotte, died May 17, 2009. Mrs. Ferguson was born on July 3, 1907 in Chicago, IL to William F. Rothenburger and Kate P. (Teachout) Rothenburger. She moved to Port Charlotte in 1983 coming from Bethesda and Sliver Springs, MD. Mrs. Ferguson was a retired Librarian at the University of Illinois in Urbana, IL. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte, Inventor, Patentee of hand wheeled cart, a Representative for the World Book Encyclopedia, A.A.U.W of Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, Listed in Who’s Who of American Women in 1977, United States Public Health Service, Wives Club. She graduated from the University of Chicago where she pledged Delta Zeta. She is survived by her sister, Wilma Winkler of Salina, KS. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Malcolm.
