Ryan Anthony Miller, 40, of Lexington, passed away suddenly on Saturday January 29. He was born in Louisville, and lived in North Carolina for four years. But he spent most of his life in Versailles. Ryan loved playing soccer and golf. He was an avid UNC and UofL fan. He loved spending time at Rough River Lake fishing, water skiing, and tubing- and his family has many cherished memories with him there. Ryan loved movies and could answer any question from the game show Jeopardy. He held various jobs over the years, but one he was most proud of was getting to be the personal equine security guard for the horse Curlin. He got to go to Dubai with him for two months. In the last few months, he really enjoyed watching his little brother Ethan coach wrestling. He loved attending UofL football games and sharing TikTok videos with his sister Carlye. And he cherished many trips out to Los Angeles to see his sister Ashley and the various sights in California. Rick and Debbie were the most faithful and loving parents, and constant sources of support in Ryan’s life. Ryan didn't like crowds very much. He was content to hang back out of the spotlight and be an observer. But he could strike up a conversation with anyone, and always had a special eye out for the underdog, the unnoticed. It was so clear that he loved his family and spending time with them. His laughter was so infectious. But Ryan's pride and joy were most certainly his nieces and nephews (Weston, Reagan, Norah, Emerie, and Gray). His face lit up when he got to be with them, and he was the sweetest, most attentive uncle. They affectionately called him Uncle RyRy. They loved being held by him, wrestling with him, pestering him, and watching movies with him. He found ways to pay special attention to each one. We'll hold tightly to many recent memories we've shared with him, including a family trip to Disneyland and a wonderful Christmas. Ryan is survived by his parents, Rick and Debbie Miller; siblings Ashley Opie (Nathan), Carlye, and Ethan (Morgan), his two nephews and three nieces; Nana (Joann Miller); Aunt Laney (Delane Baldwin of Jacksonville, FL), Rhonda and Jeff Breunig (Melissa and Rachael and spouses with children), and Robert and Amy Miller (Ben and Paige), and many other cherished family members and friends. A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Saturday February 5 from 5-7pm at Clark Legacy Center in Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Isaiah House Treatment Center. This is an organization that cares for the hurting, and we would love nothing more than to honor Ryan in this way.
