Lt. William Conrad Bart, Sr., age 86, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Cape May, New Jersey, passed away on May 5, 2009. Survived by eight children, Diana Sue Bart, William Conrad (Mary Anne) Bart, Jr., Rodney Craig Bart Sr., Linda (Greg) MacDonald, Robin (Jane) Randolph, Barbara (David) Carrick, Scott (Dale) Randolph, Terry (Emily) Randolph; a sister, Elizabeth Andrews of Center Hall, Pennsylvania; fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie and survived by his ex-wife, Charlotte Bart. A graduate of Collingswood High School Class of 1941 he lived in Oaklyn, NJ prior to joining the United States Coast Guard. He served for 32 � years and was Group Commander for the U.S. Coast Guard Station Cape May, Air/Sea Rescue for 10 years. During World War II he served in the South Pacific Theater, Okinawa and Guam and in May of 1974 he retired at Cape May. He was a member of the Corinthian Yacht Club, Cape May Volunteer Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officers Assoc., Venice American Legion Post # 159, Coast Guard Combat Vets Assoc., U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary of Cape May, NJ, The Key to the City of Cape May was presented to Lt. Bart by then Mayor Jerry Enderwise. Services will be private for the family. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida is handling the arrangements.
