Francis X. Gleason, 92, of North Port, Florida died Saturday April 11, 2009. Mr. Gleason was born on August 18, 1916 in Brooklyn, New York to John J. and Catherine (Murphy) Gleason. He moved to this area in 1976 coming from Long Island, New York. Mr. Gleason retired in 1966 after 25 years of service from the New York City Police Department with the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port; member of Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association; previous member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Englewood, FL; Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. Francis was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou O’Neill of North Port, FL; several nieces and nephews.
