Joann Adelman, 80, passed away on May 5, 2023, in Lexington, Kentucky, with her loving family by her side. Joann was born in Silver Spring, Maryland on October 17, 1942, to Kay and Ben Adelman. Joann was a caretaker by nature and enjoyed helping family and friends in any way she could. She adored all animals and volunteered at the Lexington Humane Society for numerous years. She also enjoyed dog sitting and feeding the neighborhood stray cats. She could be found most days cruising through town with her dog Roxy. Joann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and also loved visiting her daughter’s horses in Versailles. She loved sunny beach days as well as watching a storm roll in over the ocean. Snow days were also a favorite. She was a beauty inside and out and represented Washington DC in the Miss World USA 1962 pageant. In her early 20’s she was a singer and remained a music lover for her entire life, with country as her favorite. Joann was a member of Daybreak Community Church. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Coniglio and son in law Dave Scheuch of Florida, and grand dog Lindy. In addition to her parents, Joann was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Hart, and her furry companion for eleven years, Roxy.
