Donna Furman
March 6, 1941 — January 27, 2015
Donna Furman of Jackson, CA passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the age of 73. She was born Donna Jean Hendrix in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Walter and Alice Hendrix on March 6, 1941.
Donna graduated from Conestoga High School in Wayne, Pennsylvania in 1959. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1963. Donna moved to Los Angeles in 1964 where she worked in the insurance industry. She was married to Norman Furman from 1965 to 2003. They lived in Burbank, CA and had two children, Tracy Jean Furman(Carlton) and Scott Hendrix Furman.
After raising her family Donna worked in accounting and banking for 25 years in the Los Angeles area and retired from Citigroup Bank in 2003. While living in Burbank Donna attended Little White Chapel Church where she was active in the women's church group.
Donna moved to Jackson, CA in spring 2003. She was active in the local community, attending the United Methodist Church of Jackson, was part of a monthly book club, and regularly played rummy cubes with her friends. Donna was a volunteer at Hospice of Amador County for the entire 12 years that she lived in Jackson. She was a volunteer for her church helping organize monthly Saturday morning meals for the less fortunate. Donna also volunteered her accounting skills for her church and other local groups.
Donna is survived by her two children, Tracy Carlton of Jackson, CA, and Scott Furman of Los Angeles, CA.; her grandson, Ian Carlton of Jackson, CA; and a sister, Ellen Hendrix and her partner, Carol Peterson, both of Surprise, Arizona.
An open house Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in Jackson for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Amador County, www.hospiceofamador.org.
