Dorothy A. Roberts

June 29, 1940 — February 24, 2021

Dorothy A. Roberts passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at her residence in Pine Grove, California at the age of 80 years old. She was born June 29, 1940 in Orland, California to her late parents, Trevor, and Frances Thomas. She was the youngest of six siblings. Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Roy Roberts; her son, Craig Pippin; brothers, Robert and Trevor Thomas; sisters, Mary Rawlings, and Barbara Lohse. She is survived by her brother, Norman Thomas of Medford Oregon; her two sons, Brad Pippin, Scott (Valerie) Pippin; daughter, Julie (Steven) Miles; stepdaughters, Annette Cavalier, Carol (Wilbert) Gray, Royce (James) Doucette, Deborah Koerner and Patricia Roberts; stepson, Paul Davis; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren (including one addition by the end of 2021) and many beloved nieces and nephews. Dorothy graduated from High School in Laytonville, California. She later moved to San Jose where she met her first late husband, William Pippin and started a family. Many years later, Dorothy moved to Santa Rosa to pursue a job opportunity at Optical Coating, along with a few other side jobs to support her 4 young children. After she and her children settled into their home, she met the love of her life, Roy! A few years after they met, they created their foundation in Livermore with their blended family of nine children. While residing in Livermore, Dorothy was employed at Physics International in San Leandro as a Technical Associate/Supervisor of the Piezoelectric Lab. She continued her employment as a Production Manager with the new company who purchased the PZ Lab and formed Kinetic Systems, in Hayward. Dorothy and Roy spent over 20 years of their leisure time at their trailer at Lake Pardee where they enjoyed many of their friends and family gatherings. During Dorothy’s onset of retirement, she and her husband nestled into their retirement home in Pine Grove, California. Dorothy was not quite ready to fully retire so she sought part-time employment at the local Wal-Mart pharmacy and later volunteered as an Ombudsman. Some of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her family and friends, going to the Jackson Rancheria, where she could be found playing her favorite slot machines; and of course, watching her Sunday Football. Dorothy had so many great friends and touched lives everywhere she went. Her home was always welcoming and filled with love, laughter, and delicious home cooked meals. She was always there for her children, grandchildren, and the many people in her life. We will miss her witty sense of humor, her smile that would light up the room and her warm hugs! Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. You will be forever and ever in our hearts!! A private family gathering will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery where Dorothy will be interred alongside Roy. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at 12:00pm held at the Pioneer Community Veterans Hall 25100 Buckhorn Ridge Rd. Pioneer, CA 95666.
